I'm not a big fan of Winter so Spring is a big deal to me as it marks the end of a very cold season. This year, I celebrated the first day of Spring by going to one of my favourite restaurants, Sokyo.
I chose Sokyo due to the freshness of the ingredients and they are delicately balanced in taste. Which, this embodies the feeling of Spring. Sokyo's style is Japanese tapas and the dishes are designed to share.

Ratings out of 5 Food: 5. I am absolutely in love with Sokyo's food. The quality of the food is superb and fresh. I have been to the restaurant 4 times already and still craving for more. Ambience: 4. Intimate and sleek design. Background music wasn’t too loud so we were able to hear each other. The lighting is soft but a bit too dark for taking photos. Service: 5. The waiters are friendly, efficient and attentive. They would ask us on dish order preference and explain if any dishes needed extra time to prepare. The timing of the dishes was timed perfectly. They came out as soon as we finish the previous dish. Location: 4. It is 15 minutes walk from Town Hall Train Station and right outside of the main “The Star” building. Value: 4. The pricing is at fine dining bracket. Reasonable price for high quality food. Pros: Consistent in food quality and service. |
Cons: Walk-ins aren’t recommended so make sure to book beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Comparison: Sokyo is similar to Nobu in Melbourne. I personally like Sokyo since I live in Sydney.
